Nagi Alsubai
Nagi Alsubai is a Yemeni-American nonprofit leader, educator, and mental health advocate based in New York City. His commitment to this work is rooted in lived experience. After navigating years of mental health challenges, grief, and major personal loss, Nagi experienced a crisis that required hospitalization. That experience strengthened his belief that no one should have to reach a breaking point before feeling seen, supported, and understood.
Nagi founded Peer Minds in 2022 around one guiding belief: we can become the people we needed when we were younger.
Nagi brings experience in nonprofit leadership, education, youth development, program building, and community engagement. His work has centered on helping young people recognize their strengths, develop practical skills, and see themselves as capable of creating change.
As a Yemeni-American and Muslim leader, Nagi understands how culture, faith, family, identity, and mental wellness can shape one another. His approach respects those connections while encouraging honest conversations, personal growth, and greater access to support.
Beyond Peer Minds, Nagi contributes to nonprofit networks, mental health initiatives, community coalitions, and youth-development efforts. He was also recognized as an Arab America Foundation 40 Under 40 honoree for his leadership and service.
